Motion Picture & Film
Schroder Fidlow represents several major Hollywood studios and has served as production counsel
on many significant theatrical, television and home video releases. We
also represent independent production companies, film financiers and
several distributors as well as many individual producers, writers and
performers in feature film, television and radio. The Firm has
extensive expertise in handling all legal and business aspects of
filmmaking (including film financing, union and guild collective
bargaining agreements, rights issues, and distribution arrangements). |
Broadcast Media
The Firm's Broadcast Media practice includes a variety of interests in both commercial and public broadcasting.
Several of our individual radio clients are nationally syndicated and
one attorney has done extensive work on behalf of Clear Channel
Communications in connection with their nationally syndicated radio
programming. Our attorneys have also represented clients in connection
with many network and cable television programs and overall production
deals with cable networks such as HBO, Showtime, Discovery, A&E and
COURT TV. |
Literary & Publishing
Schroder Fidlow literary clients include well-established national authors to beginning writers
in a variety of publishing genres. The Firm also represents several
regional publishing houses and has strong experience in agent-author
agreements, publishing agreements, ancillary rights disposition and
magazine and newspaper syndication matters. |
Music/Music Publishing
Schroder
Fidlow’s work in music is generally talent-oriented and is primarily
based in Nashville and in the Hip-Hop community in the Mid-Atlantic.
The Firm also represents various regionally known record labels and
music companies and provides legal counsel on various music publishing
and administration matters. Our attorneys played the principal role in
drafting a landmark state statute affecting the conduct and activities
of music performing rights societies (ASCAP, BMI and SESAC). |
Theater/Live Stage
Schroder Fidlow has extensive experience in the business and legal aspects of live performances and productions,
including work on Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional productions as
well as live entertainment for theme parks. The Firm also represents
several regional and local theater playhouses. One of the Firm’s
attorneys has a particularly extensive background in the business of
live theater, including significant producing experience prior to his
legal career, as well as an undergraduate degree in theater production
from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Master’s degree in Theater
Management from Columbia University. |
Personal Appearances/Endorsements
The Firm’s attorneys have handled personal endorsements, merchandising and product placement deals
for several entertainment industry professionals, eyewear designers and
sports figures with such companies as Sony Consumer Products, Max
Factor, Sunglass Hut and Qantas. Additionally, we represented one of
the leading public speakers forums in the United States and provided
counsel related to public appearances for many of its major celebrities. |
Multimedia/Internet
Schroder Fidlow represents multimedia and Internet content providers
around the country. Representative clients in this area include two
large privately held software companies involved in CD-ROM production,
distribution and licensing and during the Dot-Com boom, our attorneys
also represented one of the major entertainment-related content
providers, as well as several individual Internet filmmakers
and artists. Additionally, one of our members is a past Executive
Committee member of the Intellectual Property, Internet and New Media
Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. |
Visual Arts
One member
of the Firm is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth
University's Graduate School of Arts, a past chairman of the Virginia
State Bar’s Lawyers for the Arts Committee and has been honored for his
legal work by the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts. Another of our
members has been involved with several non-profit Arts Law
organizations in San Francisco and Los Angeles and has been cited by
the U.S. Supreme Court in connection with his published work regarding Copyright Law in the Arts. |
